Very pleasant, relaxed laid-back place, away from the hustle and bustle but near enough to walk downtown. Good-sized, clean and comfortable rooms, friendly welcoming dining room area where you can lounge all day if you like with as much coffee and tea as you want, pleasant swimming pool and a lovely garden with cosy corners everywhere: we felt very much at home. Friendly and helpful staff and very reasonable prices.
Clean, safe and comfortable Russian-owned hotel. The staff are exceedingly helpful & there are a couple of computers at guests’ disposal in the large lobby area. At our request the hotel sent a minivan to the airport in the middle of the night to meet us. Good as gold, the driver met us with a sign with our names on. We felt that the $15 charge for this service was very reasonable. The large room with its comfortable mattress, Wi-Fi and a bath tub felt like the last word in luxury after our long flight from London! The breakfast buffet is a superb spread of tasty local choices, including kefir, pancakes, pies, honey and delicious jams (a feature throughout our stay in Kyrgyzstan). The hotel is situated in a quiet residential neighbourhood of 5-storey apartments. The city centre is about 20 minutes walk away so the location not ideal if you want to be in the heart of the action, although taxis are inexpensive.
This review is for Asian Mountains No 1. We were surprised at the Bishkek airport to be asked if we wanted AM 1 or 2 as we did not know then that there are 2 hotels with the same name and same owners. We’ve heard that AM 2 is also good, but our experience is with AM 1, which we thoroughly enjoyed during our total of 4 nights there last September. The Guest House is tucked away at the end of a side street off a pot-holed larger street that itself leads to one of the main avenues of Bishkek. A walk into the city centre at a leisurely pace will take maybe 30 minutes. Our room was very nice, reasonably spacious, the ac worked well and it was quiet. Good wifi also. We overlooked the lovely swimming pool behind the hotel. We did hear the train rumbling through (front rooms face the tracks) but noise was not a problem. The breakfast is excellent and the breakfast room cosy and charming. The managers can also provide light lunches and dinners if given enough notice. Bishkek has excellent beer and we happily enjoyed ours outside in the lovely front garden after a hot, dusty day of touring the city on foot.
